I missed last week’s DVD releases, which seems to happen on occasion. My apologies for the oversight, but I’m sure you all got on just fine without me. If you rented The Forbidden Kingdom or Baby Mama, you probably did okay.
This week we have a few movies and some television shows new to DVD.
What Mike Recommends
Snow Angels
Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell star in this indie film that I’ve heard great things about. Only a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Roeper and Phillips both loved it. Definitely going on my rental list this weekend.
Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season (Blu-Ray)
A great little show from ABC starring Lee Pace and an awesome supporting cast. Quirky, unique, magical and like a fairy tale…one of the major bright spots that came from last season’s crop of new shows.
Chuck: The Complete First Season
Another fun new show from last year, this time an NBC spy-comedy. It had it’s ups and downs, but seemed to get better as the season progressed.
The Mist (Blu-Ray)
Nothing super-special about this Stephen King short story turned movie, but it was fun anyways and I liked the premise. It’s been out for awhile, but the Blu-Ray edition is released today. I love the scenes towards the very end.
The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Dazed and Confused, Wei
rd Science: Flashback Editions
Digitally remastered editions with all-new special features. I love both of the films starring Molly Ringwald and could watch Breakfast Club anytime it appears on TV during a lazy Saturday afternoon. Only saw Dazed once and am not sure I ever did get to watch Wierd Science.
Blu-Ray Releases
Lots of stuff out on Blu-Ray this week, 21 titles in all. 1408, Hulk, Risky Business and more. Check them out on Amazon.com.
What You’ll Probably Rent
Made of Honor
Patrick Dempsey may be good on TV, but he can’t recapture the magic he once had in movies.
Speed Racer
The movie that was picked to make all kinds of money this summer ended up as one of the biggest busts ever. But supposedly the special effects are amazing, so it might be worth a rental if you have a Blu-Ray player.
88 Minutes
Another ugh entry from Al Pacino from what the reviews say. I’ve not seen it, and doubt I will. But you just might this weekend (FYI - It’s longer than 88 minutes).

2 questions for ya….
1) What is this about… Snow Angels…. never even heard about it??
2) You list 'Hulk' as a Blu-Ray release this week?!?!? What Hulk?!?! Not the recent one with Edward Norton? Was this the Eric Bana one?
Thanks for the clarity!! =)
I'm pretty sure we've talked about Snow Angels before.

….strangely enough clicking on the Amazon.com listing they show the Hulk blu-ray cover which appears to be the one with Eric bana, however they list it with these stars…
Hulk [Blu-ray] ~ Cara Buono, Jennifer Connelly WHO the heck is Cara Buono?!?! On Amazons link that name is highlighted and underlined so you can click on it, when you do, it gives you an error asking if you meant someone else…. lol… amazons own listings dont work or make sense…

Ah…. sorry about the oversight… thanks for the re-link!
The recent one is “The Incredible Hulk” so I didn't think you needed any clarity

You’ve never see Weird Science! It’s a classic 80’s teenage flick where silly nerds decide to make their ideal woman.
I know the plot, but just haven't seen it. I think there are probably much better 80's flicks than Weird Science
No Weird Science is good. Oingo Boingo
Don't be fooled! He's seen it. That is where he got the idea for Jina. His ideal woman. =D
I saw Weird Science in the theater when it came out. Awesome!
Hulu has Weird Science!
