TV Talk: Sunday Night
With Pop Critics in a state of suspended animation, and a potential new owner in the works, we wanted to make sure the site kept somewhat alive for the next week or so. We’re also hopeful that our recaps of Dexter, Mad Men, Charlie Jade, Pushing Daisies, Friday Night Lights and others, will be posted [...]
Entourage Recap: “Fantasy Island”
The boys from Entourage are back, even if they were kind of doing their own thing at the start of the fifth season. When we last left Vincent Chase and his crew of Turtle, Eric, Drama and Ari Gold, their passion project, Medellin, bombed big time at CANNES and was purchased for a single dollar.
The best part of the episode occurred right from the get-go, when Medellin was reviewed by Richard Roeper and Michael Phillips on the show they used to star in, At the Movies.
Catch the Season Premiere of Entourage for Free!
A late heads up to you guys this early NFL Kick-Off Sunday morning. HBO is running a free preview weekend on DIRECTV (I enjoyed another high-def viewing of Live Free or Die Hard) right now and that means you can watch the season premiere of Entourage without paying for it!
The budget in our house right now kind of restricts us from both Showtime and HBO (the baby on the way says we need a crib and her room painted more than TV), so I had chosen Dexter to watch instead of the hilarious Entourage.
What to Rent: New DVD Releases for 8/26/08
This week is packed with TV shows and some interesting Blu-Ray releases, along with a few movies that wont be on my rent list, but could make yours.
There are 23 total titles new to Blu-Ray this week, but only about half of them are worth a gander.
The only downside to all these television DVDs this week is that you barely have enough time to catch up before the next season begins. I really wish these TV studios would try to get these things out months in advance, so people have plenty of time to get in every episode before the fall.
Mike’s Fall TV Preview - Sundays
A week from tonight will see the first new episodes kick off the Fall 2008 season of television with Prison Break, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. There is a whole slate of new shows, plus some returning ones that I’m dying to get back into.
It’s weird how an entire summer goes by and you tend to forget about those characters and shows you love right up until you start seeing new promos for them and suddenly you can’t wait for the smorgasboard of season premieres.
Entourage returns September 7th
One of my favorite shows is HBO’s Entourage and it finally returns on September 7th. Once that date hits, it will have been over a YEAR since we saw Vincent Chase and his crew sell of Medellin for one dollar to an unlikely party: Harvey.
And Lost/BSG fans think they have it bad.
We have the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Award nominations!
The 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Award nominations are in and we’ve got the entire list for you below.
Once again, I’ll exclaim my disappointment that Battlestar Galactica never makes it to Drama Series, but whatever. It’s nice to see Damages, Lost and Dexter in there. I just recently started watching Dexter and it deserves to be here as much as anyone else.
I made my predictions for Comedy and Drama Series not too long ago and only got two wrong. But are you kidding me that Boston Legal is in AGAIN and somehow The Wire isn’t? Is there no justice?
George Bluth on “Entourage” this fall
Kristin from E! broke the news that Tambor will be a guest star this fall on the fifth season of Entourage.
I love Entourage and I cannot wait to see Tambor do whatever it is he’s going to do. According to Kristin, he WILL be playing himself, as many of these guest actors do on Entourage
The Top 10 semifinalists for Emmys in Comedy and Drama
In case you guys are interested, here are the 20 semifinalists in the Emmy categories for Best Comedy and Best Drama series.
Most notably and highly frakking sad in my opinion, is the continued disregard for Battlestar Galactica. I guess not enough people watch the show. I can only assume if it was on FOX, enough people would have seen it and voted it into this group.
Top 15 television shows to watch on DVD this summer
I’ve had this post planned for a very long time, and was going to do it during the writer’s strike, but it just never materialized. But now that summer is here, it’s time to pass on my vast knowledge of quality television that you may have missed out on over the years. Okay, maybe not vast, but I have watched my fair share of it.
So this is my list of the Top 15 Television Shows you should think of watching this summer. Those long, hot months get boring when there is nothing but reality TV on, and you might desire something good to watch.
“Gossip Girl” gets 24 episodes next season
Yes, I watch Gossip Girl on occasion with my wife. But you can ask her if you want. I tend to keep an eye on it from the dining room table while I write articles like this one.
But I couldn’t help but get blown away by the ending of the last episode. It was like [...]
Damages, Rescue Me back in 2009?
A quick blurb about two of my favorite cable shows, which both happen to be on FX.
Damages, which got the go-ahead for a second season, is apparently rumored to not return until January, 2009. That’s a heck of a long ways off and starts to really make my summer viewing depressing.
To make matters worse, Rescue [...]
Entourage set to return for fifth season in September
Wow, being one of my favorite summer shows, the idea of Entourage returning in the fall is pretty awful.
Thank you once again Writer’s Strike for throwing the universe out of order and causing my TV watching to get all screwy. Instead of a June premiere for Entourage, we’ll have to wait until September.
Bummer.
