As I’ve said before, I tend to align with Richard Roeper from At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper on most of his reviews. Sometimes I disagree with him, like with Sweeney Todd, but those occasions are pretty rare.
So that’s why this past weekend’s episode got me excited for another upcoming Judd Apatow comedy: Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Roeper raved about it, saying that he was almost ready to make room for it in his Top 50 Comedies of all-time!
That’s pretty high praise coming from him. He said this stacks up with all of Apatow’s other classics, like Superbad, Knocked Up and Anchorman. Now, Apatow didn’t write this movie, that was done by Jason Segal, who stars as the guy who gets dumped by Kristen Bell.
Segal hails from one of Apatow’s early projects: Freaks and Geeks, a television series that only lasted one season, but was one of the best TV shows I’ve watched in a long time.
Michael Phillips guest hosted with Roeper and both agreed it’s definitely the funniest movie of the year so far (although I still think In Bruges will be tough to beat).
I was excited about this film when I first saw the trailer, but after the bust that was Drillbit Taylor, I figured Apatow’s success may have run it’s course. But apparently that was only a small speed bump on the way to another hit.
If you haven’t seen much about the film, watch the trailer below, but it’s a RED BAND version, so there are some pretty crude moments that are sort of NSFW.

Ok, for hardly hearing about this one, it looks funny enough to go see. I like this trailer better than a non red band trailer one…
You know, I have no idea why we haven’t been talking about this movie because I’ve been thinking for a while now that it looks pretty funny.
LOL. “God would not put a playground next to a sewage system!”
i think i am definitely going to see this one.
Great line Kory
This is looking like it will be hilarious.
Haha, i just watched the trailer for the first time, not sure why I haven’t seen it til now. Either way the film looks great. I will definitely be checking it out soon.
