There were those of us who were hoping that Peter Jackson and his amazing writing crew from the Lord of the Rings movies would somehow find their way to help Guillermo del Toro pen the upcoming Hobbit sequels.

Well hope no longer my friends, it’s happened. Del Toro, along with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, will write the screenplay for The Hobbit, and have actually already started on it.

Hellboy Overtakes Hancock At Box Office - No One Wants To Meet Dave

This weekend audiences weren’t content to just rest on their laurels while they waited for The Dark Knight to come out on July 18th.  Instead, they substituted a pair of other comic book characters for the Caped Crusader and provided hefty box office for both Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Hancock.

Movie review: “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” (2008)

Ah yes, Hellboy, the demon superhero with the red Invulnerable Right Hand of Doom. Oh how I’d want one of those!

After a couple of disappointing efforts in Wanted and Hancock, I went into Hellboy II: The Golden Army looking for something surprising and fresh the week before The Dark Knight comes out and crushes the world as we know it.

We’ve been keeping you updated on the progress of the new Lord of the Rings films, The Hobbit and a sequel to be titled later, and now we have some blurbs to pass on from the mouths of Peter Jackson and director Guillermo Del Toro.

Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) May Return To Middle Earth In “The Hobbit”

Guillermo del Toro is gearing up for pre-production on the two-film big screen adaptation of The Hobbit for Warner Bros.  Variety is reporting that del Toro will be jumping into that just as soon as his Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters in July.  They are also reporting that the studio has already made “preliminary contact” with three of the actors from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy about reprising their roles for the upcoming prequels.

Guillermo del Toro officially directing “The Hobbit” and sequel: Serkis, McKellen on board

While Guillermo del Toro has officially announced that he’s been chosen to direct The Hobbit and its sequel, I’m officially getting friggin’ excited about the future of the Lord of the Rings franchise.
First off, seeing The Hobbit on the big screen like the recent Lord of the Rings films is a dream come true. But [...]

Wolfgang Peterson Off “Ender’s Game” Adaptation

Anyone who’s delved much at all into science fiction books will have already heard of Orson Scott Card and his magnificent book, Ender’s Game. It was one of my early favorites. I think my sister used to read it like once a year. I never got really caught up in the sequels but that first book was everything that’s good about science fiction writing.

Guillermo del Toro Comments On “The Hobbit”

Guillermo del Toro posted some news concerning The Hobbit and it’s proposed sequel on the message boards for Hellboy II: The Golden Army.  His posting was a response to a question that was asking what was going on with The Hobbit films and with him as director.

‘Splice’ looks pretty freaking weird

Entertainment Weekly had a “first look” picture in their latest issue for the movie Splice, which stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. I hadn’t heard of it before, which is disappointing for a guy who tries to be up on these kind of things, but it’s produced by Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy 2, Pan’s Labyrinth, [...]

New Line being sued by The Tolkien Trust

New Line Cinema has been bad. Very, very bad.
At least, that’s what The Tolkien Trust is trying to say. The Trust is a charity group that manages the J.R.R. Tolkien estate and has filed a lawsuit against New Line Cinema for $150 million.
Oh boy.
According to the article in Variety, The Tolkien Trust claims to have [...]

Guillermo del Toro to direct ‘The Hobbit’ films

I’ve been following news about The Hobbit films closely ever since it was confirmed that Peter Jackson was going to be attached to the project. To me it wouldn’t be the same without Jackson’s vision helping it along.
This time around though, he’ll be producing the films, not directing, but that’s okay with me considering who [...]
