Jennifer’s Body Poster Is Ironic and Derivative

Jennifer’s Body Poster Is Ironic and Derivative

It’s some really bad luck for whoever did the artwork for the poster for Jennifer’s Body. The poster for the new film from Juno scribe Diablo Cody features, ironically enough, Jennifer’s head and no body. I suppose that would be okay except for the fact that HBO release the poster for True Blood a couple of days earlier, and, well…let’s just say that they have some similarities.

Poster and preview for True Blood, new HBO vampire series

For some reason, I haven’t been paying much attention to the new HBO series True Blood, either because I didn’t know what it was all about, or somehow just missed hearing about it.

Either way, the premiere is coming on September 7th and I wanted to give you all a heads up on what might be a pretty interesting new take on the vampire mythology.

Entourage returns September 7th

One of my favorite shows is HBO’s Entourage and it finally returns on September 7th. Once that date hits, it will have been over a YEAR since we saw Vincent Chase and his crew sell of Medellin for one dollar to an unlikely party: Harvey.

And Lost/BSG fans think they have it bad.

Movie Review: “Sex and the City” (2008)

I never expected to be writing a review for the Sex and the City movie. I watched some of the television series, but not enough to have any desire to see this film.

But after a summer filled with superheroes, violence and action, a silly romantic comedy actually seemed like it would be refreshing

George Carlin HBO tribute

In honor of George Carlin, HBO is busting out a major tribute by running a marathon tonight and tomorrow night.

The marathon will feature 11 of his comedy specials over two nights. Over his 30+ year career, he did an amazing 14 solo comedy specials for the HBO network. The lineup will begin with his first ever show, “George Carlin at USC”, and end with his last, “It’s Bad For Ya.”

“Recount” premieres on HBO this Sunday

A stellar cast bolsters Recount, an HBO film that details the insane events that happened in Florida during the 2000 Presidential Election.

The movie is supposed to be a highly entertaining look at the stuff that happened during those five weeks when the Supreme Court ultimately gave Florida to George W. Bush.

Band of Brothers coming to Blu-Ray

Somehow I never got to see Band of Brothers, the HBO classic miniseries that has a 9.6 out of 10 rating on IMDB by over 46,000 readers.

Directed by Tom Hanks, co-produced by himself and Steven Spielberg, the 10-part miniseries won countless awards from Emmys to Golden Globes, and is considered to be among the best miniseries of all-time.

Hollywood, HBO starting to handcuff DVR users

Thanks to a reader (the Cap’n of course) submitted tip, I came across this story about Hollywood and DVRs and it made me want to run down the street screaming hysterically.

Those of you with Direct TV may have noticed recently that pay-per-view movies suddenly have some with an expiration date. For example, I purchased a few movies awhile back, like Eastern Promises, The Brave One, etc., and they had these deletion/expiration dates set about a month in the future.

TV Review: ‘John Adams’ HBO (2008)

As I said on Friday when I gave you guys the heads up on this new mini-series from HBO, I’m a huge American Revolution nut and while I haven’t studied it as much as I ought to have, it’s still the main moment in U.S. history that brings out more pride in me than any [...]

‘John Adams’ premieres on HBO on Sunday

Before the week ends, I wanted to slip this little heads up to you guys about what appears to be a great mini-series premiering on HBO this Sunday, March 16th.
It’s called John Adams and is based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name by David McCollough, which has become one of the [...]

Entourage set to return for fifth season in September

Wow, being one of my favorite summer shows, the idea of Entourage returning in the fall is pretty awful.
Thank you once again Writer’s Strike for throwing the universe out of order and causing my TV watching to get all screwy. Instead of a June premiere for Entourage, we’ll have to wait until September.
Bummer.

Flight of the Conchords: A Texan Odyssey

The Flight of the Conchords: A Texan Odyssey is a documentary done by the geniuses behind the Flight of the Conchords series on HBO that I fell in love with last summer.
Those geniuses are Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, the two members of the “band”, Flight of the Conchords. They call themselves the fourth most [...]

Flight of the Conchords - ‘Business Time’

One of my favorite shows from 2007 was Flight of the Conchords, and I noticed last week that HBO has started replaying the series. My HBO subscription is currently canceled, but will be back once Conchords and Entourage return with new episodes.
So while I’m not watching it, I figured I’d leave you with a music [...]
