Way back in April Mike and I responded to an EW article that listed their predictions for the biggest movies of the summer with some predictions of our own. Now with Labor Day officially closing out the summer movie season we felt it was time to revisit our predictions and see how we fared.

Ah yes, Hellboy, the demon superhero with the red Invulnerable Right Hand of Doom. Oh how I’d want one of those!
After a couple of disappointing efforts in Wanted and Hancock, I went into Hellboy II: The Golden Army looking for something surprising and fresh the week before The Dark Knight comes out and crushes the world as we know it.

The comic book movie Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, arrives in theaters on this Friday, July 11th. But the promotions seem to be just now heating up.
The character Hellboy is involved in all kind of web videos interacting with people like Chuck from the NBC series, the guys from American Gladitor, James Lipton from Inside the Actor’s Studio and an NBC “The more you know” commercial.
Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) May Return To Middle Earth In “The Hobbit”
Guillermo del Toro is gearing up for pre-production on the two-film big screen adaptation of The Hobbit for Warner Bros. Variety is reporting that del Toro will be jumping into that just as soon as his Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters in July. They are also reporting that the studio has already made “preliminary contact” with three of the actors from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy about reprising their roles for the upcoming prequels.

The new poster for Hellboy II: The Golden Army is one of the coolest posters I’ve seen so far this year. The colors, the imagery, and the tagline (Believe it or not - He’s the good guy) all work together to make this poster very effective.

Hellboy 2 NY Comic Con poster
Gus over at Movie Poster Addict put up the Hellboy 2 poster from the New York Comic Con that was held this past weekend.
According to Gus, this isn’t an “official” movie poster for Hellboy 2, it was actually a specially done design by Drew Struzan just for the convention. Very cool.

Guillermo del Toro Comments On “The Hobbit”
Guillermo del Toro posted some news concerning The Hobbit and it’s proposed sequel on the message boards for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. His posting was a response to a question that was asking what was going on with The Hobbit films and with him as director.
