Movie Review: Burn After Reading (2008) by Mike

Whatever the legacy is that the Coen brothers leave with their latest film, Burn After Reading, at least college students will have a new method in which to partake in drinking games. It will go down with such legendary contests like the number of Roxanne/Put on the Red Lights said during that famous Police song.

This new version will be called the John Malkovich ‘What the F*ck’ Drinking Game, which should end up with most players completely trashed after only a few minutes.

Changeling Trailer

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a couple of years now, and even my usual “meh” feelings for Angelina Jolie aren’t dampening my spirit. To most people, this is the latest Clint Eastwood film. To me, it’s J. Michael Straczynski’s first A-list screenplay.

Enter the Burn After Reading Contest!

The Burn After Reading contest we told you about on Friday is now open and awaiting your winning entries. The contest features some cool prizes that will be given to five lucky Pop Critics readers.

Burn After Reading is the latest Coen brothers movie and it features a sick cast: Brad Pitt, Francis McDormand, George Clooney, John Malkovich and Tilda Swinton. Jason and I have been following the movie very closely because that cast coupled with the Coens can only mean greatness.

Heads Up: Burn After Reading Contest on Monday

This is a fun announcement to make. In conjunction with the marketing efforts being the upcoming Coen Brothers film, Burn After Reading, we have some cool prizes to give away in a fun little contest we’ll be putting on for you guys next week.

New Burn After Reading Poster Is Artsy-Retro

A while back we published a couple of posters for Burn After Reading that I thought were interesting.  They made us take them down for whatever reason, but now we’ve got another one to show you.  This one continues the artsy-retro sort of look.

Laurence Fishburne Is Prime Candidate To Replace William Peterson On CSI

Last month we told you that William Peterson would be leaving CSI after this season and we let you in on CBS’ plans for the continuation of the show.  At that time they had in mind three potential candidates for a role that would replace Peterson on the show, all big names including Laurence Fishburne, Kurt Russell, and John Malkovich.  Well, we’re now reporting that Laurence Fishburne is the prime candidate.

Two New Posters For “Burn After Reading”

Last month we brought you the first poster for the Coen Brothers’ new film, Burn After Reading, and it was a fantastic throwback to some classic film posters from days gone by.  For some reason, however, the studio felt it necessary to come up with a couple of new posters as well.

Entertainment Weekly first reported, and other news agencies have now confirmed, that William Peterson, who plays Gil Grissom on the hit CBS show that started it all CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, will be leaving the show this season - the shows 10th.  Fans are already bemoaning the loss.

“The Mutant Chronicles” Has Terrible Title But Cool Poster and Action Packed Trailer

We stay pretty informed about upcoming movies around here since we’re usually writing about them from even the earliest stages of development.  I have to admit, though, that I was caught kind of off guard with The Mutant Chronicles.  The truth is I hadn’t heard much about it and hadn’t really bothered to look in to it at all.  I think the title kind of threw me off.

“Burn After Reading” poster released

The first poster for Burn After Reading is absolutely awesome.

Posted first on Cinematical, I found it on First Showing where they tell us that the artwork for this poster is based off that of Saul Bass, who designed legendary posters for movies like Vertigo, West Side Story, North By Northwest and more. You can see some of those old posters over on First Showing.

Eastwood’s “Changeling” Gets Release Date - Keeps Title

Changeling is set in 1920s Los Angeles and stars Angelina Jolie in a true story about a woman whose son disappears.  Months later the police tell her they’ve found him - only she claims it isn’t her son.
