“Madagascar: The Crate Escape” Teaser Trailer

I can’t say I was all that crazy about the original Madagascar. I thought it was okay but I’m not sure it was good enough to warrant this sequel, Madagascar: The Crate Escape (official site). Dreamworks, however, has plans to turn this into a franchise like their Shrek films.

In Madagascar: The Crate Escape all the original animals from the first film are back. Left marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar, the New Yorkers have hatched a plan so crazy it just might work. With military precision, the penguins have repaired an old crashed plane — sort of. Once aloft, this unlikely crew stays airborne just long enough to make it to the wildest place of all — the vast plains of Africa itself — where our zoo-raised crew encounters species of their own kind for the very first time. While discovering their roots, they quickly realize the differences between the concrete jungle and the heart of Africa. Despite long-lost relatives, romantic rivals and scheming hunters, Africa seems like a “crack-a-lackin” great place…but is it better than their Central Park home?

This trailer is definitely a teaser and a little different than we might normally see. I can’t say it’s really gotten me excited about seeing the film. What do you think? Are you looking forward to this movie or is it just another CGI film for the kiddies?

Madagascar: The Crate Escape is set to open on November 7, 2008.
