Not too long ago I posted the first Saw V Blood Drive poster. The blood drive posters have become an annual tradition right along with the movies themselves. I haven’t yet decided if it’s incredibly offensive or just a really good way to leverage the popularity of the movies for a good cause.
I still haven’t had time to read the book that’s sitting on my bookshelf, but I’m getting excited about seeing the movie. Now Warner Bros. Pictures has released the full trailer for the Ridley Scott directed Body of Lies, which will hit theaters October 10. The thriller, written by William Monahan, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, Golshifteh Farahani, Oscar Isaac and Simon McBurney.
I don’t think we’ve said anything about the supposed romantic comedy coming out next month called My Best Friend’s Girl. Mostly I treat movies like that as forgettable unless they prove otherwise and when I first saw the poster for this one I had little faith that it would prove otherwise. Which is why it was so refreshing to read what Dane Cook wrote about it in his blog.
To begin with, the trailer below is Red Band, so view it at your own risk in your place of employment. Granted, it doesn’t contain nudity or language, but there is some pretty intense violence towards the end that might induce cringes and screams from your fellow worker-bees.
This is the first three minutes of Mirrors, the horror movie starring Jack Bauer, erm, Keifer Sutherland that comes out this Friday, August 15th. We also showed you another Red Band trailer for the movie earlier in July, in case you haven’t seen it.
Henry Poole is Here tells the funny, poignant and uplifting story of a disillusioned man who attempts to hide from life in a rundown suburban tract home only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope.
I wanted to pass along this trailer for Pride and Glory, starring Edward Norton and Collin Farrell, because when those two guys do a movie together, you can usually expect something great.
But in this case, I’m not holding my breath. Of course, it doesn’t help that I feel like I already saw the entire plot of Pride and Glory in the trailer below, which is such a problem these days.
Most of you know that I’m a humongous Michael Cera fan. The guy wasn’t the star of Juno, but he was one of the best parts of the movie, and we all remember how friggin’ hilarious he was in Superbad and also Arrested Development.
It looks like Cera is finally getting that starring role in a romantic comedy and it looks very, very promising.
We haven’t written about The Brothers Bloom yet, which is probably why this is the first I’ve heard of it. But I’m glad I did, because it looks like it could be a uniquely funny comedy.
It’s from writer/director Rian Johnson, who brought us Brick, one of those awesome movies that no one knows about. It starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt as high school student who forces his way into an underground crime ring in order to find his missing girlfriend. It certainly is different, as the language and characters speak in an almost Shakespearean tone.
Remember when Oliver Stone used to make good movies? That was back before he decided that he’d join the Michael Moore school of filmmaking and just make a joke filled spectacle of partisan hate mongering designed more to turn elections than to entertain audiences. That was when he made movies like Platoon, Wall Street, JFK, and even Natural Born Killers that made us think he actually had something to say about the world - even if it did seem a little strange sometimes. That was before W.
The last time we took at Punisher: War Zone it didn’t look half bad. In fact, it looked much better than I had thought it would look. The trailer had some good action and the poster looks kind of cool. Now we get the red band trailer from Comic-Con and everything goes downhill…
Keira Knightly must really, really love period dramas…or big frilly dresses…or wigs because she’s starting to get quite the reputation as the queen (or Duchess as the case may be) for these period romance/drama films. I’m not saying it’s an awful choice - better than some of her others - but where does it end?
Jim Carrey finally has another big comedy lined up for release. Yes Man is set to be Warner Bros’ big Christmas holiday comedy so they have high hopes for it. To me it sounds like the complete opposite of Liar, Liar - almost like some sort of weird sequel.
Mike told us yesterday that the Watchmen trailer would be premiering with the IMAX version of The Dark Knight and he was absolutely right when he said it. Not long after, however, the trailer was leaked onto the internet and now all of us can enjoy it equally.
No, I’ve never seen more than a second of any High School Musical movie, but I know it’s hugely popular to a lot of people out there.
And especially my wife.
This post is dedicated to her. She’s already found a friend to go with her to see High School Musical 3: Senior Year when it comes out on October 24th, which means I can rest easy. No worries about being blackmailed into taking her.
I’ll be going to bed early this evening to sleep for a few hours, then get up around 1 AM and drive 40 something miles to watch The Dark Knight at 3:15 in the morning on a beautiful IMAX screen.
I know, it sounds brutal. But I can’t wait. And neither can a few of you guys who are tagging along with me.
