According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Kidman is attached to produce and star in The Eighth Wonder. The film is described as an action-adventure centering on an archaeological discovery that sets off a globe-spanning race.
The film was pitched to 20th Century Fox by Simon Kinberg who will write the script. Kidman and Kinberg have a history together going back to Mr. and Mrs. Smith which Kinberg wrote and Kidman was to star in before having to drop out of due to scheduling conflicts. Just think, it could have been Brad and Nicole having all those babies…
Anyway, the two teamed up for an untitled spy thriller that never panned out and have been looking for something else to work on together. The Eighth Wonder is what ultimately came about.
It sounds a bit like a National Treasure type of thing which could be a good way to go with it. Audiences love those types of films as evidenced by the huge success of National Treasure and its sequel. Kidman is a fairly good draw although she may need a strong supporting cast to really launch this film (and a possible franchise?).
Kidman’s next film in the Baz Luhrmann epic, Australia, which I am anxiously awaiting. It opens November 26.

This sounds like the “Chick version” of National Treasure.
I think she is boring.
