Looks Like The “Red Dawn” Remake Is Really Going To Happen

One of my favorite movies growing up was always Red Dawn.  I think a lot of guys from my generation feel the same way.  There’s just something about that movie that makes us feel patriotic and gives us a sense of excitement.  I mean, what if a bunch of Communists started invading our country and we had to fight back?  What would we do?  That’s the question the movie asks us.

I remember a time when Jan de Bont was going to be our next great action director.  He had a string of a couple of hits there that included Speed followed by Twister.  Both of those movies were huge and put him on the map as a name director.  Then he made Speed 2: Cruise Control.  He’s only directed three films since.

UPDATE: I am changing the title of this blog to a question instead of a statement because CNN is reporting the while he does have pancreatic cancer, his treatments are going well. It’s hard to know for sure the real story at this time and we’ll see what develops over the next few days.
