Roger Ebert to return to writing soon

I’ve always loved and enjoyed Roger Ebert’s reviews, both written and on his television show. My wife and I faithfully Tivo At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper each and every week, despite the fact he hasn’t been there for years now.

He always has a good way of looking at things and his longrunning television show always makes you aware of films you may not have heard of if it wasn’t for these two critics.

Without him, the show has run fine, Richard Roeper is very good and his guest hosts have been solid thus far, but I still miss seeing Ebert up there.

And as of now, he still cannot speak and therefore wont be back unless he has another surgery to return his voice. An operation he had in January to return his speech had complications, so a second one is needed.

But on a good note, he will be returning to writing reviews later this month following his annual film festival, the 10th annual Ebertfest, held at the University of Illinois.

Here’s to hoping he’s talking soon as well.
