Eschewing the obvious “Got Milk” potential of Gus Van Sant’s latest offering, Milk, the studio instead decided to go the full gay route. Milk is about Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America, so I can’t really say it’s a surprise.
Neither the poster nor the idea of the film itself does anything for me. I’m sure this will be a huge Oscar contender since it has pretty much everything the Academy loves - liberal politics, gays, period drama (1970s), martyrdom (he was assassinated - oops, did I ruin it for you), and Sean Penn. Break out the nomination ballots!
Milk stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch (hot off Speed Racer), James Franco, and Diego Luna. It is directed by Gus Van Sant and is set to hit theaters on December 5, 2008.

I don't know if I know what “gay” looks like… but he does look happy.
The cast for this is pretty good, and Gus Van Sant has a definitive style to what he does. Might be interesting.

Gay means happy or merry so yes he does look gay. I am lactose intolerant so I won't see this movie. As long as I don't to see two dudes making out or making it I am cool

I was actually living in the Bay area when this happened although I was like 2 yrs old ( I wish).
Either way, not sure I need to see this one, although Penn generally is very good in everything he does, so I suspect he's probably good at kissing a dude.
I agree that he is usually pretty good, but I think he'd probably try to go overboard with the guy kissing and would make it too dramatic.
Is it just me or does his nose look really big in this poster? Bigger than normal?

Penn looks terrible in this movie (which he usually does anyway) and yes, he'll be kissing……….be still, my beating heart……..JAMES FRANCO!!!! I am soooooooo disappointed that Mr. Franco took this role but it's been said that he probably just wanted the chance to work with A-list actor, Penn. Women LOVE James and I hate that he's involved in this film along with HOWL, which he just signed on to. (JMO)
