In an obvious, and brilliant, attempt at capitalizing on America’s sudden love for swimming, Saturday Night Live will premiere on September 13th with guest host Michael Phelps.
We’ve seen a lot of athletes appear on the sketch comedy mainstay, but none have been as memorable as the job Peyton Manning did, at least for me.
Can Phelps make the transition from the pool to the small screen? He seems to carry himself well and has that air of confidence about him, so it’s possible he could do a fantastic job.
I hope he does, because it should be fun seeing what kind of sketches the come up with for the 8-gold-medal-winning Olympian.
SNL will begin the new season with four straight new episodes, a strategy they used after the Writer’s Strike to pull the audience back in. All in all, there will be seven new episodes before the November elections.
Should be a wild ride.

I wonder if they will make Phelps play Joe Biden in the election-themed sketches…
He'll probably play John McCain
