There’s not really anything new about doing individual character posters for a movie.  Films have been doing it for a while now and we saw a bunch of them this summer.  What J.J. Abrams has done with Star Trek, however, is something new.  The first set of four character posters for Star Trek was released during Comic Con.  We now have a second set that was released at VegasCon ‘08.

The Firefly Ship Works project

I’ve been meaning to tell you guys about this cool little project for awhile now, but it got put on the back-burner until last night.

The amazing model builders from Quantum Mechanix are working on a replica of that little space vessel from the Firefly TV series named Serenity. Some of their other work includes a Cylon Raider Artisan Replica for $900+ and an upcoming Basestar that flat-out looks awesom

I think those of us who have been following news about the upcoming J.J. Abrams Star Trek film have long known that Zachary Quinto, the man picked to play a younger version of Spock bears a striking resemblance to Leonard Nimoy who originated the character.  Well, now we have a side by side comparison thanks to Vic over at ScreenRant.com.

New Comic-Con Star Trek Posters

Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue had some pretty cool new posters for the Star Trek movie from J.J. Abrams coming in 2009.

TrekMovie.com scanned them all and published all four on their website. They feature James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana) and bad guy Nero (Eric Bana).

Finally!  New “Star Trek XI” Details

It seems like forever since we’ve had any new details on J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek reboot movie. However, Screen Rant is reporting that Paramount had a panel at Creation Entertainment’s 16th Annual GRAND SLAM: THE SCI-FI SUMMIT in Burbank, California, this past weekend in which screenwriter Roberto Orci and Leonard Nimoy was in attendance and the two dished out a few details we haven’t heard before.

Anton Yelchin To Join “Terminator” Film

Anton Yelchin (Alpha Dog, Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett) is in negotiations to star as John Connor’s father Kyle Reese in director McG’s Terminator 4 (which remains untitled and, apparently, thankfully, isn’t being called “The Return of the Terminator” after all).

NBC and CBS recently began offering some of their classic TV shows online as streaming videos.  One of the offerings from CBS is the original Star Trek series.  CBS has made every episode of the 1966 to 1969 series’ original run available online and uncut.

Variety is reporting the sad news that the release of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (official site) has been pushed back to 2009.  Originally scheduled for release on December 25, 2008, Star Trek will now bow on May 8, 2009.
