David Ayer’s (Harsh Times, also wrote The Fast and The Furious, Training Day, Dark Blue, and S.W.A.T.) new police thriller, Street Kings (official site), isn’t set to hit theaters until April, but we’ve got a closer look at both the HD trailer and the poster right here.
Street Kings stars Keanu Reeves, Forrest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, and Common. Keanu Reeves plays Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD Vice Detective. Ludlow sets out on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner, Detective Terrance Washington (Terry Crews). Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker plays Captain Wander, Ludlow’s supervisor, whose duties include keeping him within the confines of the law and out of the clutches of Internal Affairs Captain Biggs (Hugh Laurie). Ludlow teams up with a young Robbery Homicide Detective (Chris Evans) to track Washington’s killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Their determination pays off when the two Detectives track down Washington’s murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice.
The trailer looks sorta interesting but aside from “Training Day,” none of the other projects that Ayer has been associated with really blow up my skirt.
His stuff seems to mostly be adrenaline-fests with loads of impressive gunplay & explosions, a dab o’ skin, and very thin plotlines. “Harsh Times” was total crap, in spite of having top-notch actor Christian Bale on-board.
Not holding my breath for this to be anything special.
Mike, YMMV, but I thought “Harsh Times” was simply horrible and practically pointless. A real waste. Be sure to let us knowhow you liked it should you decide to watch it anyway.

I haven’t seen Harsh Times yet, but wanted to…I thought I heard it was good though, now you say it’s crap, ugh.

Thought about watching “Harsh Times” myself because of Bale, but now I’m glad I waited. Don’t have enough time to waste on pointless crap.
HUGH LAURIE! I’ve been in love with that guy ever since house started. I’ll probably watch this movie because of him
