Appaloosa Gets 4 Really Cool Character Posters

I’ve already mentioned that I’m really excited to see the Ed Harris directed Appaloosa.  I love westerns in general and the last few big screen westerns have actually been pretty good (Open Range and 3:10 To Yuma come to mind).  This one looks like it could be another good one.

A Detailed Script Review of The Road

Agentorange over at Quiet Earth has seen an entire 123 page version of the screenplay for The Road starring Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

His review has given me even more reason to be utterly thrilled to see this movie.

For those that have not read this book (and if not, you should do so now), it’s the tale of a post-apocalyptic world in which a father and son hunt for food and try to survive in a country filled with emptiness, ash and cannibalistic humans.

Appaloosa Gets A Poster

I’m already starting to get excited about Appaloosa even though it has a bit of a dark and mysterious history.  It seems the film, directed by Ed Harris, went into production back in October of 2007 then promptly fell off everyone’s watch list.  Now it has suddenly reappeared and is getting ready for an October 3 theatrical launch.

Bleak new photos from The Road

USA Today posted some killer photos from the upcoming potential masterpiece, The Road, starring Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Charlize Theron.

They dub these the first official photos, but of course we showed you this one of McPhee and this one of Viggo/McPhee back in May. But now we get one of Theron who plays the wife, and Michael K. Williams who is a thief in the movie. The shots are bleak and desperate looking, which is exactly what you’d expect from the subject matter in this film.

Appaloosa Movie Trailer Starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Renée Zellweger

I don’t think there is a genre of movie I love more than the Western.  Many of my favorite movies are westerns and I always get excited when someone in Hollywood manages to put another one together.  We don’t get many these days but the ones we do get are usually really good.  That’s one of the reasons I’m really excited about Appaloosa.

More details and new photo from “The Road”

Here is a new shot from the set of The Road, the film version of Cormac McCarthy’s novel of the same name. The photo shows Kodi Smit-Mcphee as The Son, sitting on a road waiting for something. It’s unclear whether that’s Viggo Mortensen in the background or some other character.

Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) May Return To Middle Earth In “The Hobbit”

Guillermo del Toro is gearing up for pre-production on the two-film big screen adaptation of The Hobbit for Warner Bros.  Variety is reporting that del Toro will be jumping into that just as soon as his Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters in July.  They are also reporting that the studio has already made “preliminary contact” with three of the actors from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy about reprising their roles for the upcoming prequels.

First picture from “The Road” with Viggo Mortensen

Despite all the fun movies coming out this summer and fall, I think The Road might be the one I’m looking forward to the most in 2008. It’s being released on November 26th.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for some sort of trailer or image to come from the studio and the first photo is finally here thanks to Row Three.

Charlize Theron joins Viggo Mortensen on ‘The Road’

If you don’t know, The Road by Cormac McCarthy was my favorite book from 2006 and probably one of my favorites of all-time. Not only was it an amazing, unique story, but it went on to win a Pulitzer Prize for McCarthy.
I’ve been following the production of the movie a bit, obviously from the first [...]
