Movie review: X-Files: I Want To Believe (2008) by Mike

Movie review: X-Files: I Want To Believe (2008) by Mike

I wanted to believe that the newest X-Files movie was going to be awesome and mind-blowing, but instead experienced what amounted to a long-lost episode from the TV series.

And that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it. I was a huge fan of the Fox hit and just seeing Fox Mulder and Dana Scully one more time is always welcomed.

Dexter rocks! Here’s a Comic-Con poster

All the hype I heard about Dexter was warranted. In fact, I might say it was underrated from what I’ve seen so far.

I’m eight episodes into season one and it just gets better and better. Rarely have I been creeped out or even frightened while watching a TV show other than the X-Files. It’s not exactly “scary” like a horror movie or anything, but it does have some awesomely tense moments that can influence nail-biting rituals.

“X-Files: I Want To Believe” Website Goes Fully Interactive

The X-Files: I Want To Believe website has been a splash page up until just a couple of days ago. On Tuesday the site went fully interactive in anticipation of the film’s theatrical release.

There’s going to be an X-Files comic special!

I am not sure how I missed that this was happening, but let’s face it: My memory and awareness seem to be that of a 128-year old man sometimes.

Whatever the reason for my oversight, I’m happy to be able to pass along the news that X-Files writer Frank Spotnitz is helming the release of a new X-Files comic book special under DC Comics’ Wildstorm label.

X-Files 2 finally gets title: “I Want To Believe”

With the opening of X-Files 2 on July 25th, it seemed like the decision on an official title for the movie was starting to cut it pretty close. But finally today, we get a title and it’s one that relates to the very beginning of the series.
If you remember Fox Mulder’s office and the poster [...]

Gillian Anderson in Maxim, still hottest FBI agent ever

I loved the X-Files…for the aliens, the conspiracy, the humor of Fox Mulder…all of it.
But the other thing that kept me interested was the great beauty of Dana Scully, played of course by Gillian Anderson, who really hasn’t been seen in any mainstream stuff in awhile. She’s done a few things for PBS and Masterpiece [...]

X-Files: Retrospective video and new trailer

From X-Files News I found this great Retrospective video that was shot last Wednesday during the PaleyFest.
The Retrospective appears to show old footage that builds towards the series finale, the first movie and finally what seems to be brand new footage from the sequel. At least, the clips towards the end aren’t anything I [...]

That’s a wrap! X-Files 2 finishes 3-month shoot in Vancouver

Chris Carter and David Duchovny were among the cast and crew that held a press conference on Wednesday to thank the city of Vancouver for putting up with them the last three months during the secretive shoot of X-Files 2.
Yeah, I’m SURE they had a problem with it. I’m pretty certain the people of Vancouver [...]

X-Files 2 teaser/trailer shown at Wondercon!

Okay, this is the crappiest handheld version of a trailer I’ve seen in quite awhile, but it’s the only thing we got right now so that’s what you are getting. You are watching the first X-Files 2 teaser/trailer from WonderCon 2008 that was this weekend.
WonderCon is an annual comic book, science fiction and motion picture [...]

X-Files 2: More Mulder and Scully, and a wolf?

Thank you to Holly over at X-Files News for passing on these new photos of Mulder and Scully from the X-Files 2 set, plus a video. The pictures aren’t exactly as cool as the ones I posted a few days ago, since they are a bit blurry and all, but these are sort of “snipered” [...]

Mulder and Scully photos from X-Files 2

Finally, we’re starting to get REAL photos from the set of X-Files 2. I cannot tell you how excited I am getting for this film, and these photos just seem to make the wait feel that much longer.
Either way, the first photos of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully from the new X-Files 2 movie have [...]

The first X-Files 2 set photos appear on the web

I have to say, I am really going to enjoy the time until X-Files 2 comes out. From hearing the first rumors that production would start in December to verified casting news, tidbits are starting to come pouring in, much to my approval. It’s fun to hear new things about it and see evidence that [...]

No Henriksen, but three announced for X-Files 2

So the Lance Henriksen in “X-Files 2” rumors turned out to be a dead end, but now comes more definite word of three actors joining David Ducovney and Gillian Anderson in the long-awaited sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Amanda Peet, rapper Xzibit and Billy Connolly will be a part of the second X-Files film, with [...]

Lance Henriksen not in X-Files 2

*BONG*
That sound you hear is from the Bell of Recantation. It’s something new here at A Mike Life, never before having been rung.
Apparently, all the internet rumor sites out there got it wrong. Not shocking I guess, the X-Files 2 plot is being kept tightly under wraps, so it’s no wonder things got spun out [...]

Lance Henriksen to be in X-Files 2?

A few weeks ago I alerted you all to the glorious news that Cris Carter would start filming X-Files 2 in December and the movie would be released on July 25th, 2008.
Well, as the production and casting continues, more news will be coming out and one of the juiciest tidbits yet has fallen from the [...]
