The American Idol Results show for week 13 of Season 7 live performances finally brought us to our last two contestants - the two Idol hopefuls who will meet on stage and battle for our votes to determine who will be the next American Idol.
Believe it or not, we’re finally down to the Top 3 contestants in American Idol 2008, Season 7. It’s been thirteen weeks of live performances to reach this point and it’s starting to feel like it. This week the last three Idol hopefuls were allowed to sing three songs each - one chosen by the judges, one chosen by the producers, and one of their own choosing. Who would perform the best?
The American Idol Results show for week 12 of Season 7 live performances announced the Top 3 contestants and managed to finally cut loose the last of the pretenders, and a contestants who no longer appeared to be having fun, and gave the remaining hopefuls a one in three shot at being named the next American Idol.
Week twelve of American Idol 2008 live performances brought us the end of three months of live performances and double performances from each of the Final 4 contestants. This week’s theme was songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With so many songs to choose from there’s no way the Idol hopefuls could screw song choice this week, right? Well…
The American Idol Results show for week 11 of Season 7 live performances whittled the contestants down by one more and gave the four remaining a 25% shot at being named the next American Idol. Neil Diamond theme week ended up being almost as bad as Andrew Lloyd Webber week, but most of the talk centered on the judges as Paula managed to critique a performance that hadn’t even occurred yet.
Week eleven of American Idol 2008 live performances kicked off last night with our top five American Idol finalists performing two songs each. This week’s theme was Neil Diamond songs. Last week we said goodbye to Carly Smithson who was an early favorite in the competition so the top five know they are down to the wire and in the home stretch. They each have a 20% shot at being named the next American Idol.
The American Idol Results show for week 10 of Season 7 live performances saw the contestants cut by one more and left us with only 5 hopefuls remaining. The results this week were surprising to almost everyone, but I’m not going to say they were totally unexpected. With only six contestants remaining in the show, there was a better than average chance that this week’s ousted contestant would be an “upset.”
Believe it or not, but we’re already in week ten of American Idol 2008 live performances. After last week’s elimination of Kristy Lee Cook we’re down to only six performers. With only six people left in the competition and one of the top two spots already all but named after David Archuleta the performers didn’t have time to slack off even a little bit. This week’s theme: Andrew Lloyd Webber…?
Week nine of America Idol 2008 live performances brought us the Top 7 contestants and the very noticeable absence of another. Last week’s shocking elimination of Michael Johns was still being felt as the final 7 took the stage to perform Mariah Carey songs. Mariah Carey herself was there this week to act as mentor to the young hopefuls.

Week eight of America Idol 2008 live performances brings us the Top 8 contestants fighting to stay in the game. With pretty much all of the weaker competition now out of the running, the contestants have no choice but to step up their game if they want to stay alive. This week was Inspirational Song week so the Idol hopefuls had plenty of song choices to pick that perfect song for their style. As usual, however, some did better than others.
We’re now in week seven of American Idol 2008 live performances and we’re down to the Top 9 contestants. It’s actually a good time for the show since we’ve seen most of the pretenders get voted off, the show has been cut down to only an hour long, and we have the first of our musical mentors. This week Dolly Parton dropped by to lend her considerable talents to the show.
Week six of American Idol 2008 live performances find the top 10 contestants in a neck and neck, week by week race to see who can go the distance. There are definitely some early favorites, but at this stage it’s still anyone’s game. That fact was proven last night when some of the early favorites stumbled while some who have been stumbling turned in some of their best performances.
