The Dark Knight Puts IMAX In The Spotlight

Despite the fact that IMAX is a forty year old company, they have been but a minor player on the film exhibition market.  The Toronto based company operates only 160 screens in North America, many of those being in institutional venues considered inadequate to meet the needs of commercial releases.  They were only able to come up with 94 screens on which to premiere The Dark Knight.  However, it is the success of The Dark Knight on those 94 screens that promises to change IMAX forever.

Facebook adds chat, just got a bit cooler

I used to think MySpace was awesome like a year ago. Then someone showed me Facebook and I realized MySpace was like the junior high/high school hangout, while Facebook seemed more like the college/adult social network.
And Facebook is just flat out better anyways. MySpace is trying hard to catchup, but they just pale in comparison. [...]

Survivor 17 To Film In HD

The reality program, Survivor, on CBS has long been known as much for the exotic locales and the beautiful scenery captured for the show as it has for the backstabbing and mental breakdowns that have defined the reality part of the equation. The show has traveled all over the world from Australia to China, from Taiwan to Micronesia, however, it’s still one of the biggest shows to not film in HD.

Amazon tries to appease my HD-DVD pain

Well, I was waiting to see what, if anything, Amazon.com would do for those of us morons who purchased HD-DVD players prior to the total death of the technology.
Other stores, like Best Buy and Circuit City, all offered people full refunds, credits, etc., towards Blu-Ray players, or even money back.
Word comes down today that Amazon.com [...]
